About the Texas Handball Association
We are a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to handball in Texas: teaching it, competing in it, and making sure there are places to play.
Our mission
The mission of the Texas Handball Association is to promote and develop the sport of handball throughout the State of Texas.
We do that by teaching the game to new players through open seminars and clinics, by coordinating a statewide tournament calendar, by working with schools and universities to build youth and collegiate programs, and by bringing the state’s clubs together around a shared plan for growing the sport.
Our programs are open to everyone. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, or disability.
Who we are
Handball has been played in Texas for decades, in city clubs, YMCAs, and university courts from El Paso to Houston. What the state has not had is an organization connecting those efforts to one another.
The Texas Handball Association was formed to be that connection. The organization was incorporated as a Texas nonprofit corporation effective June 5, 2026, and is governed by a volunteer board of directors drawn from handball communities across the state. It is affiliated with the broader handball community through the United States Handball Association (USHA), the sport’s national governing body.
We are a new organization, and we are building deliberately: governance, policies, and financial controls first, so that the programs we run are sustainable and accountable to the players and donors who support them.
Nonprofit status
The Texas Handball Association is a Texas nonprofit corporation, Texas Secretary of State file number 806638265, incorporated effective June 5, 2026.
The Internal Revenue Service has recognized the organization as exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, effective June 5, 2026. The organization is classified as a public charity, not a private foundation. Our Employer Identification Number (EIN), also used as our Charity ID, is 42-3119006.
Contributions to the Texas Handball Association are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our IRS determination letter, our application for exemption, and our annual information returns are available for public inspection on request. Write to us at the address below and we will send copies.
